RCCC Announces Addition of Biotech, IT Leaders |

SALISBURY, N.C. — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has added senior-level personnel in its Biotechnology and Technical Services departments. Carol Scherczinger, Ph.D., has joined the RCCC faculty as program head of biotechnology. As program head, Scherczinger will teach multiple biotechnology courses, supervise other biotech faculty members and possess administrative responsibility of the program. Scherczinger's previous experience includes associate professor and graduate program coordinator at the University of New Haven, in Connecticut; technical application specialist with HID Genetic Analysis - Applied Biosystems, in California; criminalist in the Forensic Biology Unit of the Connecticut State Forensic Laboratory; and teaching assistant and visiting faculty member at the University of Connecticut. Scherczinger earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Cornell University and a doctorate degree in molecular and cell biology from the University of Connecticut. She resides in Rowan County. RCCC has hired James Livornese to serve in the newly created position of associate vice president of information technology services and chief information officer. Livornese will manage the work of RCCC's Technology Services Department, which provides vision and leadership for the planning, development and implementation of information technology initiatives to improve the college's operations and programs. Livornese comes to RCCC from Central Piedmont Community College, where he served as director of client services, supervisor of client services, coordinator of technical resources, information systems analyst, and adjunct instructor. Livornese holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Frances Marion University and earned a graduate certificate in management of information technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He resides in Charlotte. |
